Sorry for the super lame caption, but life really is going great here at
the mtc! I am learning and ton and am growing 24/7. It’s a wonderful,
wonderful blessing. I am so happy and am feeling the spirit so much in my
Some of the biggest take a ways from this week… Russel M. Ballard
speaking at our devo last Tuesday night! Wowww such a cool experience!! He
spoke a lot on missionary work and on the power of The Atonement in our
lives. It is crucial that we apply it. I know that life gets hard and some
days it is really easy to look back on life and feel like things are too
hard and you’ve made so many mistakes. The truth is though, we all have and
we will make lots of mistakes in life. That’s how it is. And experiencing
those mistakes is what helps us to grow and become better people. The
Atonement is what helps us rise above sins, change, be better and move
forward. As I’ve gotten older and older I have come to better understand
that in order to apply this beautiful gift in our lives we need to repent,
change, AND MOVE FORWARD. Where are we going to be in life if we keep on
reflecting on the bad times? We will be stuck in the past, not progressing
or moving forward. “The Savior is not disappointed with anyone who
earnestly seeks repentance.” Never think that you’ve messed up to much to
get back on the right path. God love all of his children. And he will never
give up on us.
Anyways, I gotta fly like Marty Mcfly (sorry for the messed up spelling).
Love you all!! Don’t forget how amazing you are!! Much love!!
Woww first official email going out to all my homies!! Haha I love you all
and I hope that each and every one of you knows just how awesome and
stellar you are. Never forget it!! Life here at the MTC has been good!! The
schedule has been a pretty crazy adjustment, but it has been so good for
me. It’s a life changing way of living and is starting me down a happier
road. The Spanish is coming, slowly and steadily, but it’s coming. Everyday
I feel like I’m progressing. My teachers are great, my district is awesome,
and my companion is the greatest!! God has blessed me so much as I start
this amazing journey in my life. My companion is from Scottsdale Arizona.
Her name is Hma Duke and she is hilarious, kind hearted, and almost fluent
in Spanish. She has been so nice and has been helping me learn Spanish like
crazy!!! And I am so grateful that she is my companion.
This is the caption on my first email because this is literally how I have
felt over the past six days. I went from being extremely overwhelmed and
kind of a nerve wreck to being strengthened through words from leaders and
examples of mine here at the mtc. So on Sunday I was able to watch a church
movie called: Character of Christ. The movie was actually a talk given by
David A. Bednar, when he came here to the mtc a few years ago. Some points
I took away from it that have really helped me as I begin the amazing
1. THE MISSION IS NOT ABOUT YOU
2. “The greatest convert on your mission will be you, if you consistently
turn away from the natural-man and turn outwards instead.
In other words, “Because I have been given much, I too must give.” Loving
others and having the opportunity to serve the Lord and the people of
Argenitina for 18 months is such a blessing. And I truly believe that the
best way to find happiness is to look outside of ourselves and serve those
around us. I know and have a true testimony that if we look for
opportunities to step outside of ourselves (even if it’s just doing
something little for someone else) it will make you happier. You never know
who needs a friend to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, or someone to just
laugh with. I challenge you to be that person in someones life. Whoever
they may be!! Well I gotta go, but I love you all!!!
Here is a picture from Olivia’s farewell! It was a great event and Olivia gave a great talk about spreading the love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people in Argentina! She’s going to be a great missionary!
